I tried it too and couldn't replicate the behaviour you suggested.

Thank you PinkLeader and Stevelup for the feedback. Touchscreens while very good, operating them in-flight, even the large ones, I feel, is somewhat "touch and go", coarse and can lead to unpredictable and distracting results.

As a long time user of many different aviation gps navigation devices, and now using SD Mobile device, I am disappointed to find I cannot seem to step thro' planned waypoints whilst in flight, either by tapping existing one at top of screen or by a scroll button. I agree with all those that ask for the ability to easily change/select present waypoint whether it be to get information on plog or to navigate direct. To step thro' planned waypoints by tapping existing, as was mentioned earlier would be a great solution so far as I am concerned.

In fact I can't find anyway of changing present waypoint short of deleting unwanted present waypoint in the flight plan itself. Am I missing something ??

I also find the font size too small on the current waypoint display, The small text of selected point gets mixed up with the map detail and is not always readable at a quick glance. It can spoil your whole day to navigate to wrong waypoint without quickly rearealizing the mistake.

I also personally find the flight info text down the side hard to read with a quick glance especially in adverse light conditions. A font size increase here would be helpful as well, even at the expense of a very slightly smaller map display width.

I also would like to see a single button on main display that scrolled between screens, i.e. map to instrument and back,(and maybe to plog screen if ever implemented) so that it is very quick and easy with single tap to change displayed mode. In small aircraft with vibration and turbulence it is very hard to do multiple presses accurately on small menu buttons whilst also keeping control of the aircraft.

In a similar vein although there has been some discussion of keyboard size in another thread I also find the miniature keyboard impossible to use in flight, the Mobile device really does need a full screen type keyboard with enter button similar to that implemented on other gps devices.

Love the SD planning software and integration to Mobile device, as a "system" it is great, if we can just get some of the "human interface" issues resolved it will be a fantastic system.

I look forward to learning more about larger screen version mobile as mentioned on another thread.

Just my 5 cents worth Smile offered I hope as constructive operational suggestions.

regards Alan

I think some of your issues could be resolved by increasing the font size on your device.

This thread is about a live plog features and should remain so, for clarity. If you have other suggestions please post them as new threads. I'm particularly interested in the potential usefulness of switching between waypoints at random during flight, because we removed that feature and made it fully automatic due to consistent user feedback that it was annoying the way it worked before.

I don't think there's any real need to be able to switch waypoints, just to be able to see them and their associated ETA's. The auto waypoint selection works perfectly and was a great addition.

Can I add, in addition to my full support to Stevelup's ETAs, individual leg times and distance to each way point as well as cumulative distance remaining and ETA to destination; the latter would be part of the ETAs as mentioned earlier.

I wonder what Stevelup had in mind in the way of displaying this information, particularly if the screen did not cover the whole route, on longer trips. My preference would be to toggle from the moving map to avoid the delays caused by re-drawing, ala map/instrument screen changeover. It would be nice to have the numbers on the moving map too.

I can now confirm that this feature will be in the next version of SkyDemon. We have integrated the route editor with flight statistics to create an "active" view of the route, showing ATA for waypoints you've passed and ETA for all those yet to come.

SkyDemon Mobile still has no knowledge of aircraft performance, planned speed and winds aloft so not all the PLOG parameters will be shown on the screen, however we may well add this information later.

That is excellent Tim. Well done. Congratulations again to you and the originator of this thread Stevelup for focusing on this important facet. Would the newly developed version give out the individual as well as cumulative leg times and distances or are these going to be considered later?

Although desirable, I feel aircraft performance and winds aloft calculations are less pressing issues so is the planned speed, at the GA level that is.

If the new release is out by early August I may even have the chance to use thin unrivalled software on an Airbus A320, Boeing 737, and an AC11, in a quick succession. Just consider fast chart re-loading, live P-log, Instrument Panel and Stevelup's humongous keyboard all available and a finger touch away.

ATC...here we come...again, but this time... in style!

The beta version of SkyDemon 2.2 released this morning contains this feature, so we would appreciate comments and feedback as early as possible.
